A very kind soul on this forum sent me some test strips. I won't name her but she has helped me so much when the health service that I have paid into doesn't deem me worthy of test strips. Rant Over.

Two hours ago, I had half a tin of creamed chicken and mushroom, some new spuds (about 3 small) and salad on the side. Loverley.

Just tested - 5.7!! I would assumed that this would have sent me into high single figures but as I have been out all day and don't feel well, was grateful when daughter cooked my dinner. I now know I can eat this safely. 5.7. Excuse me for a minute would you please?? Ahem..

Thanking you kindly.

Great result ladybird

My daughter mentioned Sainsbury's have their taste the difference Jersey Royals in. I am a sucker for those, and would love to be able to have a couple, even just a couple of tiny ones. Starting on Monday I am on the Newcastle Diet, so won't be able to have them. Now who said I had appalling timing

last time i had potatoes i had 3 new potatoes and the +2hr reading was not too bad for me. So i am experimenting a bit more with having 3 new potatoes and seeing effect on BG

I find I tolerate new spuds really well. They do vary in carb content. Some are at 16grams per 100, whilst the cheapest sainsbury's new are 14. Doesn't sound much, but about 12% difference? I find there effect changes as they start to get a bit old. When you first buy them they have little effect on me, but after about a week or so when they start to get a bit wrinkly and soggy, the effect on BG goes up quite a lot.

A bit early for Jersey Royals?....they are by far my favourite potato and can't get enough of them when in season

Sainsbury's do usually get them in a little early. I had asked her to have a look as I adore them. As luck has it I can't have them now as on the ND. Just as well really as I love them cooked in their skin swimming in butter. Drool.
