Starting Metformin ?

Hi Everyone, I am a type 2 diabetic, diagnosed in 2008 and am still on diet and exercise only, my HbA1c being ok but I need to lose about 2 stones in weight.
My question is as Metformin is an appetite suppressant and is also cardio protective, what are people's views regarding asking to be commenced on Metformin medication??, thanks, Deb

Hiya Deb,

Different people have different experiences with Metformin. I didn't do well with the side effects so had to stop taking it. However, there are loads of other people who take it with no problems whatsoever. I've heard many people say it has helped then gain better control of their diabetes and helped them lose weight.

I'd say give it a try and see how you get on with it
