Hi, since being diagnosed just over 2 years ago as Type Two,my BG levels have been controlled well at about 5 - 6.8 fasting, measured daily. Over the last 2 -3 weeks, however daily measurements rising to 8 -9. I have not really changed my eating habits although I have gained some weight over the last few months. Current medication Metformin X 3 Daily 500mgs. Any suggestions why my levels should be rising after 2 years of good control?

Hi

It may be that your weight gain is affecting your glucose intolerance. How have your HbA1c results been?

I agree that an HBA1C would be a better measure. I would also suggest measuring daily 2 hours after your main meal rather than a fasting test as the latter can be affected by the possible early morning glucose dump by the liver and I know mine varies a lot in he morning

Hi, JAPWales

It might be worth reviewing your diet at this point, if you've been gaining a bit of weight. How much carbohydrate do you eat? Cutting that down a bit might help both your weight and your BG levels.
