The Amazing RS "Super Starch"

Came across this research paper from Iowa State University regarding the benefits of RS Super Starch and its effects in reducing T2 diabetes and wondered if anyone else had seen or heard of it and so, what effect? Seems very interesting, website

This is the same thing as what happens when you cool and reheat pasta, potatoes and rice. It works well for some, but not all, and most of us who are T1 find that we still have to bolus quite a bit for it.

I'm Type 2 and tried it - it raised my BG by exactly the amount I would have expected the same amount in grams of any other carb to do - so no, not a success in my eyes.

This happened with both types I tested - the Abbott Glucerna supposed slow release carbs shake and the Generation UCan Super Starch shake. I think this stuff may be better suited to people with glycogen storage disorders and high performance athletes. Definitely not for this bog standard Type 2.

I've tried it a couple of times with re-heated w/wheat spaghetti and found that it did not cause the same high spike in my BS. So it's enabled me to enjoy the delights of spag bol again!!
