I've started tested my bloods again after a couple of years of ignorance, and it hasn't been pleasant reading. Numbers are typically around 14mmol/l despite cutting out carbs. Lowest I've seen is 10.8mmol/l. Worst thing is my symptoms have cleared up which suggests I've been running even higher, so my A1C is sure to be a treat!

I've taken the decision to fast completely for a few days, on black coffee & water. Hopefully this should allow me to burn off a bit of sugar and get my numbers down.

Unlikely to do any harm although pretty hard core.. watch out for the 42-52 hour bit as that can be quite hard.. after that it usually gets easier.. if you like cream in your coffee I might be tempted to add a bit of fat there just as a crutch.
Be very interesting to watch your numbers drop (as they should) ..keep us in the loop.

Perhaps consider intermittent fasting as a first step, 16:8 method is practiced by many here. Also a word of warning on dropping BG too fast, faux hypos & a temporary acceleration of retinopathy can occur.
Take it slow & steady, great to see you taking charge.
