Trouble with right foot in T2 diabetes

For the past 3/4 weeks I have had a recurrent problem with my right foot. The big toe is painful and difficult to move and the foot itself seems to swell up across the instep. If I press down the big toe and surround goes completely white/dead looking - anyone else had this sort of thing? I am wondering if I am suffering from some neuropathy in my foot. I also find the tip of my right thumb and first finger seem to have gone dead and make it difficult to pick things up and always dropping things. Incidentally, my GP has ruled out Gout and just said it might be to do with the Diabetes but never offered anything I could do to relieve the pain or get rid of it.

Hi Carophie, it's a bit of a puzzle! Have you had your circulation checked by the diabetic nurse? I have heard about loss of sensation in the extremities due to diabetes, but this sounds a little different. One of my friends had a tiny neuroma on the nerve to one of her toes, this led to numbness on the outside but referred pain in her toe. If nothing changes I think I would follow it up with the GP. He should be concerned about the state of your feet anyway.
Hope this is soon resolved.

Your Dr should be a bit more concerned. Do you have a podiatrist? or can you get referred? How about seeing a different Dr?

Hope you get a diagnosis soon.
