Type 2 Type 2 diabetes and a pump

**** good question. As far as I'm aware it is an option in extreme cases for T2 management. Not aware of any T2's using pumps on the forum.

That's great. Pump use would probably be more common with type 1s.
But in certain cases with insulin dependant type 2s?

Who me? Type 1. MDI. I remember the old days of "medieval" glass syringes. No meters or CGMs back then!
I didn't even meet another diabetic for years..
 
The support for endo pepole is so good I have to do my bg in a min will let u know what it is

I found this for you on a little Google quest from an audit done 8 years ago..

"The National Diabetes Information Service Insulin Pump Audit reported 35 patients with Type 2 diabetes using insulin pump therapy in England in 2009. It does not distinguish how many are funded by the NHS. The same audit noted 5,667 patients with Type 1 diabetes using insulin pumps."

So, a pumping 2T exsists, but is rare. But that's not counting ID T2s pumping in other parts of the world!

Having said that. I welcome more upto date & accurate data on this from anyone else?? :)

Wow! Now you're talking.. I started on a "Clinitest" kit testing sugar in urine when I just turned 8 years old. It was vague, & only registered above 10mmol? (Something like that.) then I moved on to pee strips.. Same principle, but matching the colour of the strip to a pastel shade chart on the side of the container for the strips instead of a fizzing pill in a test tube of pee & water.

My first proper meter was like Star Trek!

A clinitest kit in the picture below. Just to give you an idea what was carried around..
