Hi,
I am new to this forum so apologies if this has question has been covered before, my question is " has there been any published research into the efficacy and effectiveness of the drug therapies used in treatment of type 2 diabetes?"
Does the metformin/insulin plus Statins plus blood pressure tablets been actually proven to work?
I was diagnosed with Type 2 in 1999, after 10 years of classic diabetes symptoms (neuropathies, tiredness, thirst, urinating more at night etc) and have seen 2 diabetes specialists, and I feel the drug therapies I have used (excepting the insulin component) have made me feel much worse.
Today I read an article about the US FDA giving warnings that statins accelerate patients into full diabetes
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2109111/Statins-American-government-warns-statins-diabetes-risk-doesnt-British-regulator.html
I wonder the available therapies are just the best we have at this moment in time - but has anybody scientifically (and independently of the drug companies) assessed the efficacy of the therapies used?
Chris
