Hi everyone

i haven't posted in a while and my diabetes has just been getting worse and i know that my retinopathy is affected and now maybe the kidney are starting to take affect now... believe me i have been doing the most to try keep my levels controlled but after almost 13 years i think now the complications are starting to come...

as far as the thread name about the urine albumin ratio it is high and lot of people are saying it is kidney damage and the GP obviously put it down non-urgent XD
anyway.. this is a great reminder that diabetes creeps up when you least expect it. i did make a appointment with the specialst since the GP obviously are busy nex 4 weeks they say. and my specailst has a slot for next week. i hope i can try and reverse or stop this kidney damage but the levels have been high for many years and it is expected and i am obviously prepared for the worst if that is the case. anyway just wanted to post a thread since its been a while.:(

Do you follow a low carb diet?
I watched a medical case study of a male diabetic with high microalbumin of 150mg, dropped it to 30mg by following low carb diet.

Hi, i don't follow a low carb diet. I know lot of people on here do and have great succsess with it. im now in my 11 year medicated for diabetes and the last few years or almost every year after my first year has been terrible i have been on a lot of medicine for diabetes and my weight is 60kg so i haven't been on the newer weight-loss drug because i am already at a ideal weight. anyway, - I have already had a few serious complications of diabetes and it is to be expected with my poor control. i do need to sort it out now before any further complications.

OK. Even am 47kg (height - 5ft 1"). I follow a low carb diet. I take 80g carbs per day. My mother also had kidney failure due to diabetes. She had vascular dementia, hypertension... Medicines didn't suit her. I followed moderately low carb for her and her sugars dropped but years of high glucose had permanently damaged her kidneys...

Try low carbing....you can use almond flour, flax seed powder etc to make breads.
You can snack on nuts.
Include veggies, greens, salad, soups also in your diet.
Eggs, fish, tofu, chicken also can be consumed.

I'm going to try and give it a go and avoid snacks and drink water and fast and see where it takes me, sometimes i don't get anything during my shift at work and i barely go below normal sugar level. say from 28 to 25 in 2-3 hours just working and not eating.

Ok. You can carry nuts in a box and have them as snack or even a meal...
