Hi Peeps,

As you all must know by now I am a vegetarian, diabetic, LCHF and married to a wonderful lady who is a e magazine editor. So thinking logically and creatively I have persuaded the wife to edit a vegetarian / vegan LCHF e cook book. In order to do this we need your help ..we are calling all Vegetarian and Vegan's here to help in a collaboration of recipes to add to the cookbook. We need original recipes with photographs .. So if you had adapted a well know recipes to your own version of LCHF then lets see it .. if its direct from a cook book then enjoy it, but we cannot use it in the cook book !!!

We also need suggestions for a title and your agreement for your recipes and images to be included in the e cookbook

I would like to make clear to all this will be "Our Cookbook" we can share it freely .. view it freely and hopefully it will be a wonderful way to show how easy it is to be vegetarian and LCHF to new diabetics.

So hands up who is thinking this is a good idea ... and who's going to help

There are lots of questions I hope you want to ask, so please do ask .. also if your not a veggie but have wonderful veggies food do join us ...

:rolleyes::happy::angelic::hungry:

I adapt , most veggie meals , but mainly with spices and herbs ....
I am slways looking for new recepies , a great idea I will have a think ....

@Enclave, Hands up, you will get great ideas from everyone.
I am on a vegan type diet and will make an effort to give you some own version recipes which are not from books etc;
My first question would be. Will we be subject to give nutrition values.
Cauliflower tricks here we come.:)

@Enclave I think it is a great idea! So great in fact that I started working on my own lchf veggie blog a few months ago. I am nowhere near launch yet as it is so time consuming, but I'm soldiering on. Difficult taking decent photos here in the frozen north when it is dark half the bloomin' day! I won't be able to contribute to you ebook, but wish you all the very best :)

Sorry I did not know you were doing a blog..
If you just treat your plate of food like a Still Life set then it should ok. So get your self a light diffuser (angled lamp with tracing paper across the front) and a good tripod with a timer setting on the camera and your food should look great.Why would you not be able to contribute to the e book ? you could use it to promote your blog !

Well my first plan was to just share our recipes to help new veggie diabetics get to see and read our recipes .. its just a free friendly way to show what can be eaten .. so as its not intending to be anything other than a showcase for whats eaten then no nutrition or carb values will be included.. unless everyone wants it to be included .. was wondering if members would want something like a little feature of how they personally took control of their diabetes ... Its first and foremost to show that a vegetarian with diabetes need not see it as the end of their world .. Will be guided by the members to what they think they would like to see in the ebook
Am I rambling or making sense :rolleyes:

I think this is a great idea and I can't wait to see the recipes.
Do you think it might be a good idea to include a rough calorie guide for people who are trying to lose weight?

Diabiteics on a LCHF don't really count calories .. Best to keep it simple .. Then if needed get facts and figures in in a later edition :)

I thought long and hard about giving carb values, but to be honest don't want the repsonsibility. Sounds feeble I know, but I wouldn't want to muck it up and have some poor person mis-dose their meds for example. In my experience, if you avoid the major carbs and keep an eye in your meter, you can't go far wrong :)

Quite right Avocado .. its a bit of a mine field if you get tied up with facts and figures .. maybe later in further editions .. but not for our first friendly collection of foods.
edit to add... also I think the individual could quickly work out the carbs or calories for them selves

Question .... Would you like an email address to send to or just private message here ?

This is fantastic! Just what I've been looking for :)
I've been a vegetarian all my life. No meat, fish or eggs in any form, so I don't even eat quorn because it contains egg.
Since joining this site I've started to reduce carbs but I've been struggling with recipe ideas. So I'm trying to adapt many of my own previous recipes to make them lower carb. It's not easy, so this is a great idea for everyone to share their own recipes! Count me in! :)

Wonderful .. Looking forward to seeing your recipes :rolleyes:

This is quite difficult, when you have a recipe thinking it is your own idea, then check on Google, it has already been done.:confused:

Yes I have the same problem .....not as easy as we may think ...a challenge to come up with brand new recepies I am finding ....
But no problems with sharing what we eat or favourite recepies though ...that is just to easy though ....:rolleyes:

In many of my own recipes I don't measure out ingredients, I just go by eye and put some of this and a bit of that :eek:
So I suppose, before typing out the recipes, I'd better start measuring out ingredients properly for each recipe... This is going to be interesting!!
