Victoza - Side Effects

Hi Everyone, I've recently been prescribed Victoza, and started taking it this week. The first couple of days were a bit odd, some passing nausea and episodes of low blood sugar that self resolved, some muscular pain in my legs which continued until I upped the dose to the full 1.8 migs.

Only remaining problem is I seem to have watery sore eyes and some odd moments with my vision, it's occasionally blurred and sometimes it's a bit like wearing a new pair of glasses - you don't quite know where the ground is!

Anyone else experience these symptoms, do they go away?

Hi toomanyairmiles,

I've been on Victoza now for around a month.... started on 0.6 and am now on 1.2.
I guess I have been lucky in that I haven't had any nausea at all . I have had one episode of low blood sugar but I managed to resolve that without any problem. I haven't noticed any adverse effect with my eyes. Hopefully your system will settle down and all the problems will go away. Good luck.

The puzzle that is Asperger syndrome that I still can't fit together.
Good afternoon!

No problems with the eyes yet either, just nausea which is worse in the mornings and some vomiting if I eat anything rich or spicy,I'm hoping this will pass in a few weeks though! I've had some Hypo symptoms but I'm thinking that's down to I'm not managing to consume enough calories so my tank was running on empty so to speak.

Good luck!

Hi there:

I have been on Victoza for around a year and think its great. I had slight sickness and flatulence for a while but only a short while then things returned to normal. I lost almost half a stone in the first few months since when the loss has continued but at a much slower rate.
I can eat what I want within the boundaries of sensisible eating and alcohol has been really, really cut back.
I have discovered that eating anything after about 9pm and anything with alcohol after that time will push up my am sugar levels.
Maybe I have some slight problems with my eyes but as I have a minor allergic conjunctivitis that would be hard to prove at this time of the year.
One thing I did not expect came after my annual retinal scan. For the first time ever I was told I had some macular degeneration. I asked one of the specialist nurses and she said it often happened after a rapid drop in sugar levels. I was also told that at this stage there was nothing to worry about - but even so it is worrying, more so as this was never mentioned when I switched on to Victoza.
