I just had a look at Wikipedia, and both the natural history of the Fens and the way it looks seem thoroughly Dutch!
Funny little detail: The Wikipedia page in Dutch proudly mentions a Dutch engineer in the very first sentence, who supposedly led the works on the land to make them dry and usable: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fens, while the English page does mention this engineer, somewhere hidden halfway the page and with the note he wasn't all this important.
The pictures of the Fenn I found on Google could have easily been made very close to my house, they look almost eerily familiar, as if I know where the pictures were taken but can't exactly remember!
What a lovely place! Certainly beats the grim(e) of my city. At some point, I'll definitely have to scope-out some nicer scenery to walk around.
If you can find out the date she'll be doing the 25km walk, then assuming I'm well, I'll match that distance on the same day

As stated earlier, I wanted to start off maintaining the 6-8k, per-day, average steps that I've maintained for the last three, or-so years (as recorded since I've had this iPhone), to better test a new diet change (starts tomorrow - Monday 17th). But I decided to pretty much cut activity to as close to nothing as possible. Since I won't be able to start swimming till I get my C19 passport, in a few weeks, I thought it'd be a good opportunity to test the diet without a ton of exercise acting as a confounding variable.
So for the next few weeks I'll only be logging the steps that are counted for necessary walking around the house, the odd shopping trip and any important errands that need to be 'run'. The only other activity I'll be adding is some very light yoga, for maintenance and to hopefully get rid of issues with a trapped-nerve that I've had since the end of last year.
But as soon as I'm allowed to enter the gym, in February, it's 'gloves-off'. I promised myself that on the year I turn 50, i want to become the fittest I've ever been. So I guess this will be the calm before that storm
She tested negative today after a precautionary quarantine, so walks with Banjer are back on the menu!
Hi, today was a good day for a walk together with my friend Banjer. We made a longer walk, about 10 km. We had some nice stops on our way, little chats with people who think Banjer looks like a big dog and how mistaken they are. He loves people and is always searching for ponycandy's in pockets. Mr B-M-B, I like the idea that you are walking the 25 km with me on an other part of the world. So nice. It will take place on sat 12th of february.

Sat 1st 10,446 4.6 miles
Sun 2nd 18,715 8.6 miles
So, as I discussed, set my starting point as of the 10th, so here’s my first week of activity.
Current total: 181.64km
Banjer seems like a great walking companion. Guess he's up /down for as many km's as he can get.
And the 12th seems like a good goal
Nice strong start! Solid distances. By the time I'm back to regular speed, there'll be quite a gap to bridge. S'all good. Need the motivation
Blimey! Well done! If this is how you mean to continue, you'll have it done and dusted within a few months (Half a year, if you're up for the return journey).

Absolutely! This is about personal challenges and holding oneself accountable. Do it as fast or as slow as you like/need

As promised, earlier in the thread, I cut my normal weekly steps. Didn't plan an amount, but it worked out at about half:
Day's totals: 4901, 3271, 591, 647, 7834, 6180, 405.
Week total: 23.829
Divided by 2000 steps (1 mile): 11.91
