Was on Avandamet & now on Metformin - BG readings high

Hi

I'm new to these boards. I have had Type 2 for 15 years and have been on Avandamet for most of that time. Since it has been taken off the market I am now on 1gm Metformin twice a day. My BG readings in the morning have increased from 4.6/5 to 7.6+!! Anyone else got this problem. Maybe it's because I have only been on the Metformin for a month and there is a settling-in period.

Avandamet is a complex of Metformin and Avandia[rosiglitazone] so you've actually been on Metformin all along.
I can only suggest you look to your diet. some changes there may solve your problem.
I personally find keeping carbs to a minimum works. i have an aversion to infcreasing medication.
