I'm a bit down today. I've been doing so well with weight loss on 30 carbs and 1200 cals a day. 2 stone 1lb lost apart from today's weigh in, I've put on 3lb! I don't understand, plateauing is one thing, putting on weight is another. I have lots of weight to lose. My fasting bg recently has been 7.5 - 8.8. I feel ok, but cannot understand the weight gain and the rise in fasting bg. What can I do to get back on track please?

I wouldn't worry too much, I know it is disheartening. But scales are not a good measure of how we feel.
I too haven't lost any weight for weeks now. And I'm on 900 cal a day, and weight train and cardio too. But I do feel well. I have 3 shakes a day at the mo, and an evening meal So imagine my chagrin when I step on the scale. However my body looks different.
Don't give up.

A walk before bed might well work. Keep goin' Not the first time I've read this so you're not alone :)

Keep the faith! You're on a personal journey, not part of a scientific experiment where you end up a statistic. Weight, like life, has its ups and downs. As stated above, if you feel ok, you probably are. What is troubling you about your little temporary weight gain? Not the weight itself, but your response to it. So change that and all will be well.
I always weight 2kg more in the evening than in the morning.

I'm sure the weight will sort itself out with time. The BG rise is strange though, isn't it? Can you think of anything that may have changed? Are you drinking the same amount of water and other liquids and is about the same amount coming out? Have your portion sizes crept up, are you weighing them where possible? Could you have an infection? Just trying to brainstorm really.

Is this article any help? http://authoritynutrition.com/15-reasons-not-losing-weight-on-a-low-carb-diet/

It could be I'm not drinking quite as much by 2/3 glasses. Portion sizes are small. I weigh as much as I can. I'm going to have a look at my food diary and bg to see if anything stands out. I have been a little cold, and nibble through the day, olives, nuts, a bit of cheese. My sugars tend to be better if I graze. I see the nurse on Thursday for a second time in 4 weeks for a weigh in and check.

I graze too, it helps me feel satisfied and since it's things like cheese or a spoonful of clotted cream I don't have to worry about carbs. I lost 3kg in the first 2 weeks and have stayed the same for the last week but I'm not too worried, I know it will pick up again. Good luck with the nurse visit. I'm sure she will be pleased with your progress, even with this slight bump in the road.

Kim - I've read that you're going to review your records, which makes sense. Is there any way you're having a little carb creep and/or increase protein consumption? Some find eating a lot of protein gives a lower, slow rise, but it stays there for some time, overnight, plus morning, in some cases, like @Andrew Colvin .

As for the weight gain; we most, realistically run in a range, rather than be rock solid at a weight every day. Of course, if we have repetitive days where we eat and drink exactly the same things, then we might be able to expect no variations.

Any weigh I had spare has long gone, and I'm a bit of a scrawny old bat, but I even vary by a couple of kilos, if I weigh every day. If you don't weigh every day (and there's no right/wrong answer to this one), then you could be missing your peaks and troughs. To be honest, that's another reason I didn't weigh for some months after I started controlling my diet. I didn't want to distract my focus from my blood scores, but your choice is obviously equally valid.

Finally, we lady people, have other factors influencing weight to a degree. Depending on where you are along the hormonal track, you may have some impact from cyclical hormones from time to time. Even if you feel you're past all that nonsense, it is physically not unknown to have the odd flutter from time to time - particularly when you are actively stimulating other hormones with the lifestyle changes you are making.

Stick with it. These bumps in the road come along every now and then, but in a few months ago, you will have forgotten all about them.

I only ever weighed myself every 1st Saturday in the month, some months I lost more than others but never gained, I did this so as not to feel disheartened as I'm sure like you I went up and down in each month but as long as I was lighter every weigh in I was happy.
