Hi all,

Sorry if it has been discussed before...

I was just wondering what kind of snacks or healthy alternatives would you recommend?

Low to zero based carbohydrate nibbles and treats that can be eaten to subdue hunger as well as being guilt free.

Post your favorite and let's see what kind of Smörgåsbord we can create.

I can suggest a savoury snack of a hardboiled egg - I eat loads of these (one for elevenses if I need it, plus I'll often have an extra one in my bag (travelling in an egg-shaped plastic suit of armour so as not to get smashed!) in case I'm out and about having a cuppa with friends or whatever (they'll have a slice of cake - I'll dig out my egg, and if I'm feeling particularly flamboyant I'll whip out a sachet of mayonnaise, oh yes!).

If I fancy something sweet I'll have a sugar-free jelly. I make up a pint of the stuff every three days and divide it into three individual lidded containers to set. Very handy for pudding, or an instant snack.

I love nuts, but I don't have an 'off' switch for nuts.

:)

I rarely need to snack, but when I do, or if I just fancy treating myself my go-tos are:

- Lindt 90% chocolate
- Nuts (I buy pre packaged bags of 25 or 30g to avoid over eating)
- The Real Pork Crackling Co Pork Crunch (or Awfully Posh Pork Crackling)
- A small piece of cheese
- A large teaspoon of extra thick double cream

Not really a zero carb type:).
One thing for me though would be
2 Nairns oatcake biscuits with cottage cheese ( about 10 g carbs ).

Boiled eggs are great and very moreish. Problem is someone empties the supermarket shelves of eggs.
Good morning @Snapsy ;););););)

Recently started to have cheese with some butter on it...
As @Goonergal says about pork scratchings are my other regular treat.
Bacon (who doesn't love bacon), you can get packs of cooked and eat cold or just do extra and leave it in the fridge.
Packs of cold meats when on offer in the supermarket (otherwise it gets a bit expensive).

Nuts mainly Macademia's and Pecans but also Brazils, Walnuts and Almonds. BUT I'm starting to eat far too many of them these dark nights. <sighs>
Chunks of cheese mainly cheddar types.
Montezuma's Absolutely Black 100% chocolate.
The odd blueberry, raspberry or cherry tomato.

Most of the above suggestions, and just discovered Lidl's Gin Sling olives. The other day I made some curried coconut flakes from a keto book and they were very moreish. Too moreish. A good crisp substitute!

Good coffee, with a large dollop of cream is now my snack if I need one. I still can't believe, after years of "ooh, cream is bad for you" that I can have this luxury! I am becoming a cream bore - Rodda's double cream is good, as is Jersey pouring cream, both for treats, and I had a yummy Irish coffee at Christmas (without the sugar of course), but any basic cream makes coffee fab. I'll be talking about top notes of buttercup and spring grass next.....
