This will be interesting, I’ll be watching with interest to see if someone tries it.
Hello all,
Thanks for the welcome back @DJC3, @Goonergal and @maglil55.
Hugs for the high waters, @shelley262. Empathize with the frustration over long commutes. Hope the weather does a turn around (and proves the forecast wrong).
My admiration for the heroic attitude re trip to the dentist, @DJC3. Hope the cracklings from Amazon turn out to be a lot more tooth-friendly.
Stellar result on your HbA1c, @Quinn1066. I really believe you got this one beaten. Hugs for the other issues. Admire your attitude.
Wings look delicious, @Antje77. Have considered getting an air fryer myself, just where to put it.
Also wonderful looking pizza omelette, @maglil55.
With respect to the porkless moo grob -- what are your thoughts on duck breast, @Antje77, @DCUKMod. I thought about maybe removing half of the meat to get to a more favorable meat-fat ratio. Do you think this might work?
Was going to have broth with some veggies about 1.30, but will have to make do with something that looks like butternut squash soup (in its frozen state). Searching for some liver in the freezer, I actually found the pork mince I wanted a few days ago. Found the liver too, so it's all good really - liver and bacon tonight and some frozen onions to do something with. I've never used frozen onions so I'm not sure how they will work out - defrosted and then fried in bacon fat and butter, I should think. The bag of onions is just one frozen lump, so I'll have to defrost it all and then think of something to do with the rest when I see what the resultant defrosted veg is like.
I take my hat off to you Ann for baking cupcakes and a Red Velvet cake for others when you cant eat it yourself. That is truly heroic IMO. It can be quite satisfying running down the freezer I think all sorts of unexpected surprises can be enjoyed. Good news about the bg reducing. It wasn't butternut squash, it was the soup I made with cauliflower tops a week or so ago. It tasted fine AND BG is still dropping. Win, win.
Just made a red velvet cake for the weekend - there will be parents there as well and something a bit more sophisticated is required for them. So for the kids it will be macaroni cheese and crudites followed by chocolate cupcakes (and, I daresay, some "pop" or other, but I don't deal with that) plus some sweets and so on but for the parents it will be leek and potato soup, chunks of bread, possibly a vegetable curry with rice, brought by one of the Syrian mothers and red velvet cake. Must remember to take something for me to eat as well.
I have this one.I have been reading with envy of all of the air fryers. All I have is a frying pan. I think it is about time I splashed out some birthday cash and bought one any suggestions on size and make. I live in a 2 person household.
Very envious of your selection of good butchers. We have two each 5 miles in either direction and I hope they will survive. I would be more willing to pay a lot for good meat over veg. Just me. Great you are finding your feet and I hope Julie is getting better. Its wonderful that you the grandparents and the grandchildren are benefitting so much so far.Evening all. Colder here today but none of the forecast snow or ice yet. Tea with almond milk and sweetener for breakfast - 3 x 700 mls. CWC with cinnamon and sugar free caramel syrup plus 42 gms bar of Perlege ganache chocolate (<6 gms carb I calculated) not seen that before but I liked it. 5.6 @ 2 hrs high but not alarming - fbg was high today anyhow. Evening was short rib (in IP) on a bed of spring cabbage in butter. Found the Perlege at Elvendon estate food court seeking out local meat. Bought brisket - see if proper brisket works- and up market chicken. Travelled on to Euston estate butchery (been there before) for 748 gms short rib and Barnsley chops - butcher cut while we waited and they specialise in lamb. Iselham butcher not open Wednesday but all their meat is home produced - hopefully some mutton left as I don't think I've ever eaten it. Their goat was good and fascinated by the Iselahm blue pigs. Elveden is owned by Lord Iveagh so a local farm would be preferable. Trying to source meat and veg locally as much as possible. Think we will swerve the £42 organic veg box No 1 son had! Beef was tender but I really miss gravy or something to "cling" to it.
What physio school did she go to?!When I mentioned this, she smiled and said ‘oh yes, but you must keep them up. Arthritis is takes a long time to get better! ‘
- which is a teensy bit misrepresentative, I think, don’t you?
I mean, arthritis is usually a one way trip, isn’t it? And the pain stops, sure, but only when high as a kite on painkillers, or in the grave
