I've been tempted by falafel - how does it hit your blood sugars?

I had some Beetroot Falafels from Waitrose once and they had no noticeable impact on my BG. I've had normal ones too, but I don't remember testing when I had them.

I know what you mean about the courgettes. I either flash fry them in a very hot pan for less a minute so they're still crunchy, or put them in a dish raw and pour a cheese sauce over them (single cream and grated cheese melted in the microwave), then bake them in the oven until they brown.

Nice tips!
For me, courgettes are something that I'll grudgingly eat when mixed with other veg. They're not my favourite at all.

Last night: rib-eye steak and leftover ratatouille made to go further with an added pepper, tomato and garlic mix that I cooked separately and added at the end for a quick reheat. Strawberries and cream.

Travelling through Spain at the moment so can't always make 100% good choices.

Breakfast, Tortilla, small piece but it contained potatoes, which I knew about but it was least worst option in motorway cafe. Asked for no bread, bread came, binned it.

Lunch. Bought a supermarket salad and tongue and celery.

Dinner
Me and the other half shared 3 'rationes' snack sized portions.
Jamon, cured cheese, no bread, fine
Pork cheeks, slow braised, may have been a bit of flour in the sauce, ate it, came with chips despite me asking for none, left them.
Slow braised Ox tail, also in a sauce, also came with chips, left them.

I wish they wouldn't put stuff on my plate that I specifically ask not to have, I shall have to be more precise - ask, if possible for a different vegetable or small salad and if not, nothing. I hate wasting food, I was brought up to 'clear my plate' and leaving good food upsets me! Teruel is lovely and the food we had was delicious. On to Logrono today, famous for it's tapas, we will be throwing away a lot of bread!

@4ratbags I melt down dark chocolate and add double cream which makes delicious chocolate sauce for anything. Yummy!

L: Chicken with a sauce, told them no potatoes - they exchanged it for creamed spinach for free

D: Already chosen Pate, keep the bread - then fish, keep the potatoes please. Will drive so just one glass of red wine

I find eating out the biggest challenge - but usually if I say I'm diabetic (not just a fussy eater!) most places seem to make changes and don't charge

And that represents almost unimaginable willpower, as No. 2 Granddaughter baked her first ever batch of chocolate brownies this afternoon! (I kept telling myself, "They're poisonous")
