What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I'm fasting for 4 maybe 5 days, so for the last three I've only had coffee with milk, herbal tea and oxo!

Getting back to normal after a (pretty well controlled) holiday and a week in hotels for work. It's the best thing I've found for lowering BS and blood pressure and not bad for weight loss either.

I hate it when your away and you've told people your dietary restrictions and you end up eating the fillings of a couple of sandwiches because they haven't bothered to get something else for you. This happened repeatedly last week! Rant over........

Dunno how you can last days like that. I salute you. I like 24hr fasts - long enough to make a difference for me but I can see my body resisting at some point that will force me for longer fasts....

My bg is coming down which I'm happy about! X

B: egg, bacon, sausage, mushroom
L: a Lidl roll, half with chicken liver pate and mango chutney, and half with Roses Lemon/Lime Marmalade and butter. Had Branston for the first time in years, yesterday, and my goodness it was delicious. WANT MORE.
D: Bratwurst and caulicheese, berries and cream

Had a couple of days of higher carb, to show my nurse what carbs did to me, as recorded on the Libre. Sooooo glad to be climbing back on the carb wagon. In just two days I got inflammation in hands and knees, worse concentration, worse digestion, and now have carb cravings. Funny how they lose their compulsion when you realise how grotty they will make you feel, eh? lol.

Yesterday (Tues 28/6)
B: Cup of tea
L: Tinned mackerel with 3-bean and mint salad; apple; piece of dark chocolate (75%)
D: Bowl of veg soup (with added chickpeas); full fat yoghurt with a multitude of berries and linseed mix; apple
Snacks: coffee, handful of nuts

Despite the somewhat austere nature of the above intake, I've recently begun to add slightly more carbs (eg a couple of small roast potatoes with my Sunday dinner; the occasional slice of toast with my porridge) into my meals. This seems to have had no effect on my weight, which has been stable (between 9st 2lbs and 9st 4lbs) for the past four months or so. I don't eat breakfast during the week, but do have porridge at weekends (and sometimes as a replacement evening meal if the rest of the Canasta clan is whooping it up with pasta, pizza, fish 'n chips, etc), so perhaps the regular mini-fasting is helpful in this regard. I've also found that breakfast is more a state of mind than anything else - found it difficult to go without the first few times, but now don't even think about it, and can't say I've noticed any diminution of energy/concentration/physical strength in the mornings.

Fast day

D Bolognese courgetti (it was yucky but are it anyway!), whipped cream with melted dark choc and flaked almonds.

Really feeling full and need to reduce portion sizes I think...
