9am 1/4 of a lidl high protein roll with peanut butter and sorbitol (diabetic) jam
    11am a few pistachios
    1pm Scotch egg
    3pm a 40 gram bar of Cavalier stevia/erythritol chocolate (6 grams carbs)
4pm strawberries and blueberries with cream +++ and sweeteners
6pm lots of nuts and another bar of Cavalier chocolate
8pm 3 egg omelette with cheese, mushrooms and ham
    10pm diet jelly with cream

Just going to bed, BG on libre and fingerprick = 5.5..................very happy with that, as did very badly on holiday last week (a Cornish pasty and chips sent me up to to 18), average on libre 9.2.

Hi Newbie here, recently diagnosed as type 2. The low carb approach seems like a very logical and sustainable method to controlling my BS. Not sure of the numbers yet - waiting for my BS meter to arrive.

Anyway, thought I would post today's meals as a way of keeping myself motivated.

B: 5 egg omelette shared with my wife, with cheese, onion and toms.
L: Strawberry smoothie with soya milk.
D: (Planning) Tuna with moroccan salad.

Today, we did our first shop with me carb counting (or at least making an effort to seriously reduce carbs). It is really the first time I have paid attention to carb content as compared to fat. It really is quite shocking to see how many "low-fat" products have higher carbs (particularly sugar) compared to the full-fat product.

    Thank you for reading....

Excellent start Jonbvn, keep it up. I find this thread quite inspiring................if you look back at over 300 pages, it will give you loads of ideas for good LCHF food choices. But test test test is the general idea - everyone is spiked by different things.

Waiting for my meter to arrive is killing me.

I feel that when I know my numbers better, it will give me additional motivation to eat better and exercise more. Nothing beats a good S-curve!

Last night I had fat head pizza. It was really good! I used a pizza stone so it cooked evenly and apart from being slightly chewy, it was pretty good!

I'll have that once a month as a treat.

Yeah!! I do and it's dead easy!!

    http://easylocarb.com/recipe/flaxseed-crackers/

I also made them sweet by adding stevia and cinnamon and having with whipped cream. Almost like a brandy snap.

Weird couple of days..................trying hard to fast for longer periods................

yesterday, nothing for breakfast/lunch, tried to go until dinner, but had a total pigout on biscuits at work at 4pm............had about 12 shortbread fingers, probably 150g of carbs. BS on libre went up to 13. Then just strawbs and cream at 10pm.

Today fasting again, to make room for a Chinese takeaway with family later - will try to be fairly controlled.

Plan to eat nothing then until breakfast on Monday - hoping to achieve my first 36 hour fast!
