What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all on a dull, calm day here in L.A. Last fbg for a while as this sensor is ending this evening and various unavoidable medications and treatments will skew the readings so much as to make them meaningless, imho. Today's effort was 5.2 which is high for me in normal times but o.k. for now. #3 son's op went safely and he is home, head heavily bandaged, in pain and needing plenty of rest. He was sent home with no pain relief but the P family pharmacy solved the problem. For some unknown reason he and his partner rehomed a large, boisterous dog. A cross between a Dog de Bordeaux and a Neopolitan Mastif. We have been tasked with collecting a house camera so #3 can keep an eye on him while he needs bed rest. Ladbrookes have opened a book on the time Hugo, Hugeo would be more apposite, eats the camera. @alf_Josiah good news on no medical appointments. Yes, 1549 car parks were busy with those Chelsea Shire horses taking 2 hitching posts :hilarious: @Annb how very kind of you to offer to help but learning to say no sometimes may be a skill to develop. I'm sure the presentation will be a well received success. We have two grandchildren sleeping over to allow #3 some recovery time. #1 has arranged some fireworks for this evening as he has a large garden so they will spend time with their cousins. Due to the horses next door - though some way away - it will be a small affair unlike those we had for the family "back home" complete with remote detonation system - for safety. Crazy/extravagant now looking back but #1 son would have some of these in a heartbeat if not for the horses. To be fair at least one, the biggest, display was for an engagement party for #2 son. Enjoy Friday - my memories of those displays will do me nicely for now. Thanks be to God for all my blessings and peace be with you all.

Good afternoon fellow posters and painters.

Welcome to any new posters who have found their way to this small but friendly thread, I know I’m a little late with this greeting, sorry.

Well, bonfire night is over and we will soon be getting advertisements for perfume along with other things. The time to abandon the idiot box is rapidly approaching here in Tilehurst Towers.

Stay safe all.

Hows things?
It's a lot less hard than it was.
But I have to admit, the last few weeks have been awful.
Also the while situation is now so complicated and frustrating, putting it down on here is really painful, since the hospital and starting counselling again, has brought a lot out of the closet that I'm struggling to discover how to cope with it all.
We have help, and it does help in so many ways.
The family has been brilliant.
But I have to keep my time for the important things that I have to do.
And trying to make the best of it.
So don't expect too much.
FBG 6.6, which is not bad.

I have to tell, my nightmare of all nightmares was finding Mrs L completely out of it and unable to wake her. That was completely hell.
Best wishes.

We have both had our dsn review on Thursday, results next Wednesday. Will let you know. And flu jabs. I still need my covid jab, if I bother. Appointments coming up for everything.
Also, both cancer tests done were clear.

Mahonia.
I left it almost too late to take this photograph... the light completely went just moments later... I had been thinking about taking this photograph since early in the morning... and then I nearly completely forgot...

Been clearing and sorting all day in my bedroom and throwing out, but nothing looks any different...sigh...

In bed now...going to sleep early. Trying again tomorrow...

Night night...

The conference went pretty well despite a last minute change of plan. The slide show provided by my friend didn't work on the College equipment so it was a bit ad lib. Seemed OK though.

The venue wasn't entirely suitable - at least not for someone in a wheelchair. First we went to the main building where the receptionist told us the conference was in another building - uphill from where we were. My friend had to push me uphill, with just a little help from me, to the main door of the 2nd building. We got in there to find that the room we were using was down some stairs with no working lift! My friend had to push me back out of the building, down the hill and into a side entrance. OK no harm done, but then about an hour later,I needed the toilet which, of course, was in the other part of the building (beyond the stairs). We made it but I needed it again about an hour later, so off we went again. I do so hate being a nuisance and depending on others to get me around. I shouldn't be embarrassed by it but I am. I should just learn to accept help gladly, in the spirit in which it is offered.

Extra hugs for you @Annb

No one ever learns that not everyone is as able bodied as themselves...

You made the best of an awkward accessibility situation. Make sure you take some rest today. You deserve it.
You did really well yesterday.

5.8 this morning.

I did a brilliant Zoom course yesterday. It was so relevant to the way my teaching is evolving. I immediately ordered her latest book as I feel it will really help me.

We got a letter from Mr K 's consultant yesterday. One sentence really cheered him up - it said Mr K had made a remarkable improvement since his last appointment.

Thank you, Gennepher. Yes, today is even more of a rest day than usual. Probably more painkillers than usual as well. You deal with these kind of difficulties, on your own, much better, and more often, than I do. At least I had some, much appreciated, help.

@Lamont D . The way and how you cope is astounding and inspirational to us mere human beings, well me and my other me’s. My pals chaos and mayhem are still doing time and have had their parole cancelled again. So unfortunately won’t be able to read your posting.

Sorry no blood sugar results to publish.

Yesterday was incredible and I was incredibly stupid.
Yesterday morning I had my legs treated and my dressing changed so I was drugged up on painkillers and morphine, therefore not thinking properly.
In the afternoon still under the influence of the drugs I moved my motorcycle and then rode it. That was the incredible.
Now for incredibly stupid, I did all of the above wearing carpet slippers! Yes carpet slippers, you must have heard Mrs J shout and scream at me. I hastily put my shoes on and apologised for being so stupid, all I could do is agree with her.

Well I hope you all have a good day and stay safe, now I must finish this posting due to the fact of the water pills are demanding I attend the little room.

A vibrant kaleidoscope of golden yellows inspired by Mahonia flowers, forming a radiant circular pattern. At the center, delicate branch shapes create an intricate star-like design, reminiscent of tree branches seen against a pale sky, though transformed into warm, sunlit tones throughout the kaleidoscope. The composition is symmetrical, bright, and energetic, capturing the essence of sunlight filtering through nature.

Good night...

Good morning everyone on what looks to be a bright start for Remembrance Day here in the dark and dangerous north.

5.6 this a.m.

Watched the latest film rendition of Frankenstein on Netflix last nigh. You know the tale but how can we make it different Mr del Toro?

We will be going to our local memorial this morning, collecting TGITB on the way as she want’s to come. I have given her my miniature medals to wear on the right hand side of her coat.
Afterwards, the Cons Club are laying on a buffet. That will be nice.

Hope your day is a pleasant one. I am kicking mine off with a fine cafetière of koffy.

6.5 at 03.45 today.

We're trying to sort out a new ISP for when my BT contract runs out later this month. With BT we've been paying for a service for the last 2 years which was based on having a fibre connection, which we don't have. We didn't realise until quite recently that this was the case and it explains quite a lot about the poor wifi that we have. I don't suppose that any new provider will be able to give us better bandwidth, but at least it will be up front and we will know what we are paying for. The copper wires were replaced some time ago for much of our village but, although there was an intention to replace our one, it never happened, leaving us unable to use many of the up-to-date options available to the rest of the village.

Should also say that despite all this, our telephone was put onto an internet connection rather than the landline it was on so has never worked properly since. We've had to buy basic mobile phones to make sure we always have an emergency line and one that a lot of online services now use. Progress!

Bright and sunny here today, light wind. It was chilly earlier but I have just had to divest myself of the big fleece I've been wearing since 4 am today.

Next page in my sketchbook.
I painted this in acrylics...

The cat re-distribution system appears to have given me a very large ginger stray cat... so he appears to be my new stray cat. He is quite a handsome looking cat and comes every time I put food down....

A strange day. The weather was foul...

Night night from me....

Pic won't upload, so here is a link to it...

EDIT...
Possible names for new ginger cat...
Marmalade
Ginger Snap...Ginge for short
Rusty
Orlando
