What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Predictive text has it in for me as well @Krystyna23040 . It can change a post so completely that I have not a clue what I wrote... Because, as I change it back to what I wrote the whole thing changes the grammar and meaning again and adds words and REPHRASE before I have finished correcting, and says to me oh you mean these words after that word...no, I flipping don't...

I spend more time correcting predictive text but I do actually writing my actual email/ post whatever. I am almost getting to the stage where I dare not write anything....
It is definitely getting worse @gennepher . It is driving me crazy also.

Is it not possible to turn predictive text off? Luckily my software only suggests, it doesn't actually change anything - my word processor is Libre Office, not MS Word. It does insist on American spelling, but that is the only problem with it. Even so, it doesn't do anything but underline in red and suggest the change.

Eating sweets at the moment - BG has dropped and I'm in the shaky stage of a hypo - misjudged the insulin with breakfast. I didn't have my normal hypo remedy of oatcakes or digestive biscuits to hand, nor any other starchy thing, so grabbed some dolly mixtures which I keep for cake decorating. They didn't stop the drop, so I've just had a few more and am hoping that works.

That might have worked - edged up to 3.1 now. We'll see if it drops again.

An old friend of mine - he was one of a group of friends when I was a teenager and I fancied myself "in love" for a while - haven't seen him since 2003 and only had occasional word via e-mail - has sent me a copy of a little book he has had published and, guess what - the starting point of his story is very similar to the one I am working on at present. It doesn't carry on in exactly the same way and his characters are different, but it's quite a timing coincidence. Only timing because the original idea was one we discussed way back then (1962 or 3). Great minds and all that. Took both of us quite a while for the idea to come to fruition.

I didn't realise I could turn it off on my kindle fire @Annb. Thank you - have turned it off.

I have just turned predictive text off @Annb @Krystyna23040 but it is all or nothing...I am getting no written suggestions now...

EDIT... I am getting no suggestions now, but when I made today's entry, I typed 'pens'... but when I press post it had changed into 'pins' without telling me... so there still some AutoCorrect going on without telling me, even though I have a totally turned autocorrect off... and it had altered this last sentence quite a bit... so far it's just making no difference in turning AutoCorrect off...

It makes no difference whether you have predictive text on or off... at least a not on my iPad....

If you turn predictive text off on my iPad then there are no suggestions in that blank suggestion line there is nothing at all, and it still changes the words unbeknownst to me...

If I have predictive text on burn, there are suggestions in the blank suggestion line, and in addition there's still the other thing while it changes the words and the grammar.

I am damned either way....

And yes, I have been onto ChatGPT... who tells me it depends what app you are using, or what site you are using and some are better than others . The only site that I have no problems with that it does not change anything. I write whether I have predictive test on or off is the social media site BlueSky.

You haven't lost your touch, Gennepher.

BG at 03.00 was 10.7. BG was low last night and I took action to bring it up but, clearly overdid it. Currently (10.57) it's 3/7 and I'm drinking a cup of warm milk both to bring it back up a bit and to warm me up - I can't decide today whether I'm too hot or too cold. Currently a bit shivery; hence warm milk.

Just realised that I didn't take my pills after breakfast. Better go and do that now.

Good morning all. 9.6 today but at mid morning as I didn't check before breakfast. Feeling a bit under the weather. Had to keep stopping to get my breath on Friday's group walk and cancelled Monday's walk as I felt so tired/ achy. Still feel breathless even just walking around the house and lots of aches and pains but no cough or obvious chest infection symptoms so probably some weird virus. Our GP surgery now requires us to fill in a symptom form before deciding what action is needed and I don't have anything specific to write so will wait to see if anything else develops.I just want to sleep all the time. Hoping you are all well and enjoying the beginning of the festive season. :)

Sounds like the beginning of some virus or other. Take care, rest (your body is clearly telling you that you need to) and get better soon.

Aw, sorry to hear that.

Any illness etc this time of year just adds to the misery of cold winter nights.

I had my flu jab other day so I'm also a bit under the weather.

A good reminder to begin making real ginger tea again.

Lifelong asthmatic.

Began using ginger tea just after dx for t2d.

Surprising how well it kept me cold free since I started.

Used to run a cough/cold/whatever from Oct to the next march .

Since changing diet and ginger tea the asthma eased considerably.

And even though I fell off the wagon (off the wagon , by a cliff, just by a huge waterfall it seems at times.)

My asthma and breathing are still helped by the daily winter doses of ginger tea.

Hope you get back to better health asap.

I know you're a great silver surfer & problem sorter @gennepher

But as I don't touch apple products, I have no clue why that would be so ...but

For those not sure how, You can turn off predictive texting if it gets too messed up

Gemini suggests
Setting / keyboard/predictive text off for the Gboard keyboard.

Sure there is similar for apple stuff .

I know many poo poo the current trend for Ai
Being pumped out by web giants.

Personally I love it and find it most useful in Speeding up any of my searches for all sorts of information.

What was once an hour's plus easy, hunting the answers I seek, gets done now in a few moments thanks to the ai helpers, chatgpt/Gemini/Grok.

As long as you're willing to check for veracity, they really are a game changer.

(Ps I know how deep you already are into this, because you were my lead into it for myself :watching:...thank you )

Thank you @jjraak for the compliments.

You have no idea how much easier it is to use my pixel phone and the Google stuff and settings than it is to use my iPad and the Apple stuff and settings... Apple is convoluted in what they expect you to do in settings and for example with my cochlear sound processor, but Android is so much easier, quicker and more efficient...

But I was invested in Apple products from 2009, and so it was what I knew best, but it was in 2019 I think when I started with the pixel phone because I fell out badly with Apple and the iPhone... I am always on my pixel phone because it is so much easier to handle I am not talking about size, I'm talking about instructions and getting into things and altering things, et cetera it is far more straightforward... but I still have a foot in both camps.

Yes ChatGPT, I could not do without now... it cuts down time so dramatically... I do doublecheck what it says though...

I have just spent a few days verifying a document with ChatGPT that I have to sort out... I don't need it just yet, but if I leave it till nearer the time then my brain will just flatline and atrophy and I won't be able to do anything...

Now my next step is to check and recheck everything ChatGPT has rewritten for me from my notes, for accuracy. Actually, we have been rewriting it together.

I would stand no chance without this kind of help from ChatGPT, I would have to find an outside body that would help me with this document, and that is difficult with me being a deaf person and communication problems.

I may still use an outside body near the time, (I do pay a subscription to an outside body of real people that could help me in this matter), but at least I now fully understand the document, and reasons why, and terminology...

But for now I need a few days off...

Thank you @jjraak
You have helped me a lot... I am learning all the time...
