The 14th of November is World Diabetes Day . ( Banting's birthday)
For the last 5 years many members of the Diabetes online community have taken part in the Big Blue test for World diabetes day. Test, do 14 min of exercise ; anything from walking the dog to limbo dancing then test again.
The results of this informal exercise have been published in the journal Diabetes care and have demonstrated that for the majority, just 14 min of exercise can make a positive (or should that be negative!) impact on glucose levels with an average 20% reduction in levels.
Here are my results from 2009 (time flies!)

For the last couple of years, each attempt has been 'sponsored' and a donation given to charities that provide care and insulin to people in need (some in the US but also in other parts of the world)
Join in today, it won't cost you anything but 14 min of your time. (if you don't have the strips or don't have diabetes then you can still do it)

Who is going to participate in the Big Blue Test?

What are you waiting for?

Join the movement by taking the Big Blue Test right now. Each Big Blue Test entry you log between October20th and November 19th triggers a donation on your behalf to nonprofit groups that are providing life-saving supplies, services and education to people with diabetes in need. Taking the Big Blue Test is easy.

1. Test your blood glucose. If you do not have diabetes, you can skip this step.

2. Get active. For 14 to 20 minutes, get up and get moving. You can , walk, run, clean the house, swim, tap dance…whatever!

3. Test again. On average, Big Blue Testers seen their blood glucose level drop 20% after 14-20 minutes of exercise.

4. Share your results. Answer the questions in the right column of this page. And don’t forget to talk about your experience on social media
