Hi dietfizzy
You are no drama queen at all, and its good that you can talk about your fears and worries, you are still a fairly newly diagnosed diabetic, and well done for coping so well with it all, I am type 2 so cannot really advise you there much.
But I think its quite normal to worry because your husband getting a new job, even if it is for the better, its still a change from your usual routine, suddenly he is not there for a couple of nights, so its stressful until you have fully adapted to the new set up in your lifestyle.
I have experienced this before, whenever my usual routine was upset for whatever reason that I felt uneasy and didnt sleep so well so can really identify with you.
I guess the advice of making sure your bg is not below 6.6 when you go to bed is probably making a lot of sense (I dont know so much about type 1) and I have never heard of a diabetic not waking up.
Try not to worry too much about not sleeping and not being able to relax, once you have properly adjusted to new events you will soon get back to normal. Try not to add fear to fear, and I hope that you have the chance to get some rest during the day seeing you are missing out on sleep at night time.
All the best
