The American Diabetes Association (ADA) have launched a bold new initiative to fight diabetes. The ADA have invited communities across America to Step Out to Fight Diabetes, on a brand new fund-raising walk. Communities across America are free to register.
Step Out to Fight Diabetes runs for a single day, and is intended as an aggressive attack on the disease. The Chair of the Board at the ADA, Darlene Cai, reportedly commented: “Step Out to Fight Diabetes has a wide appeal and a fresh look. With so many Americans affected by diabetes, we want to reach out to them, educate them and bring a new generation of people into the ADA family . Working together is the only way we will find a cure for this disease.”
Step Out to Fight Diabetes gives people routes ranging from two to six miles. Participants in the walks are supported by volunteers who offer water, snacks and entertainment . The initiative is sponsored by several American companies.
