The American Diabetes Associatio, the leading diabetes fundraising charity in American, have announced the sponsors for their 2007 tour de Cure.
The Tour de Cure is a yearly cycling fundraising event, held on the 7th June. The ADA have been extremely effective in finding sponsors for this year’s event, enlisting the support of a number of different companies from a local to a national level.
The associate manager of the Tour de Cure Western New York, Rebecca Donoghue, reportedly commented: “It is because of the generosity of our sponsors that we are able to have such a successful event. We thank them for their continued commitment to our missio, to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.”
Diabetes is running riot in the United States, despite constant educative and preventative efforts by associations like the ADA. According to forecasts, over three-quarters of a million Americans will be diagnosed with diabetes this year, and 150,000 people will die as a direct result of the disease. Diabetes affects some 41 million people in the United States.
