Diabetes charity Diabetes UK is asking people that play golf all over the South West of the UK to tee off to raise funds for diabetes research . The call is part of the Golf Day, held at Woodbury Park Golf Club in Exeter.
The charity game will help to raise funds for researching diabetes treatment and support, as well as help people in the South West to manage their diabetes . This type of local fundraising for diabetes is becoming more common in the UK.
The regional manager of Diabetes UK South West, Jan Tyrrell, reportedly commented: “Fundraising events such as our Golf Day are crucial in enabling us to maintain our commitment to improving the lives of the 200,000 people in the South West living with diabetes . Diabetes is becoming more and more prevalent, now affecting three million people in the UK with almost 30,000 in Devon alone.”
