Health PR company Virgo will be in charge of promoting a new diabetes drug due to be launched in the UK later on this year.
The drug is co-created by biopharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb alongside the drug company AstraZeneca. The diabetes drug is known as Onglyza, and will be launched in the UK in the final quarter of 2009.
Levels of diabetes are soaring in the UK, with official figures indicating some 150,000 new cases during last year. Most are middle-aged people suffering from type 2 diabetes . The diabetes population of the UK now exceeds 2.5 million people.
