According to a research team at Syracuse University in New York State, various different types of chewing gum could prove helpful in moving insulin around the blood stream amongst diabetic people.
The team believes that an insulin chewing gum could be a genuine solution in helping to break down oral-delivered insulin. Problems with oral insulin in the past have been based on absorption.
The research team is planning to bind insulin molecules with vitamin B12, letting them travel right into the blood stream from which it can be effective in maintaining blood glucose levels and managing diabetes .
The research, so far only on rats, was published in New Scientist Magazine.
