According to UK diabetes news, people with diabetes in Lanarkshire will be given the chance to shape the future of diabetes services in Scotland . Diabetes patients have been invited to contribute to a revised diabetes action plan.
This type of empowerment for the diabetes community is very important and could influence the future of care, both in Scotland and throughout the world. A meeting will take place at Wishaw General Hospital on Wednesday August 5th.
The chair of Wishaw Diabetes Volunteer Support Group, Elvin Bailey, reportedly commented: “It is estimated that about 18,000 people in Lanarkshire have diabetes and this meeting will give people the chance to have their say on how they think diabetes services can be improved locally. People with diabetes, their carers, parents, families, friends and medical professionals should come along and give their opinions. If people don’t speak up then they might not get the changes and improvements to services that they want.”
