According to researchers, using the toxin could help to ease chronic foot pain caused by diabetes neuropathy . This diabetes complication is extremely common, and is caused when fluctuations in blood sugar affect nerve endings, causing damage and lowering feeling in extremities, particularly the lower legs and feet .
This type of diabetic complication often doesn’t respond to conventional painkillers. A research team in Taiwan tested Botox on 18 different patients, with half having an injection in each foot. At this stage, the botox helped to alleviate pain but researchers do not know why this is.
