Singing sensation, Susan Boyle is the latest celebrity to receive a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.
The star shot to fame in a matter of seconds after an unassuming introduction on 2009’s series of Britain’s Got Talent soon gave way to a stunning rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Mierables.
Reports from tabloid newspapers note that Susan has encountered some initial problems with cutting down on sweeter foods but is beginning to adjust to her new lifestyle. Susan Boyle is known to be tee total and a non-smoker which is good grounding for other lifestyle changes that she may need to take on.
The video of the newly diagnosed star’s first Britain’s Got Talent performance became an instant internet hit, racking up 66 million views within a week, setting an online video viewing record. The video was the highest viewed video of 2009 gaining 120 million views, which three times more than the second most viewed video of that year.
Since dramatically winning over the nation on Britain’s Got Talent, the British celebrity has developed a highly successful musical career that has seen her twice nominated for Grammy awards. Outside of music, Susan has also started to attract acting roles including an appearance in The Christmas Candle, a film that is set for UK release on 13 December 2013.
Susan Boyle is frequently nicknamed SuBo within the media, a name which comes from her own name but also carries a reference to sumo wrestlers. Previously Susan has reacted against industry pressures to diet to reduce her weight. However, weight loss will certainly be set as one of the health targets by doctors monitoring her diabetes.
Diabetes.co.uk wishes Susan all the best in getting her type 2 diabetes under control following her recent diagnosis.
