Cellnovo connected insulin pump shortlisted for health tech innovation award

Cellnovo’s mobile-enabled insulin pump system features among finalists of French insurance giant AXA’s Health Tech &You Awards 2017.
The prizes reward, across six categories, technologies that are breaking new ground in improving people’s self-care.
Cellnovo’s connected insulin micro-pump has been shortlisted in the Health and Care Professional’s Choice award category.
The e-pump stood out for integrating features that turn the system into a real digital diabetes coach and result in more pro-active self-management.
These include a mobile touch-screen controller with a blood glucose meter that drives better treatment by providing real-time decision support.
Upon demand, it also logs and transmits blood sugar values automatically to healthcare professionals or family members in real time.
Two other technologies have been nominated alongside Cellnovo’s for this award.
One of them is TickerFit, an app that is more geared towards goal setting and follow-up, with tailored health interventions and feedback on certain metrics like physical activity levels.
The other notable finalist is the NHS-accredited app, uMotif, developed by a London-based startup. It is prescribed in some local trusts for people with diabetes to record symptoms, log their insulin use data, set reminders, and track trends.
There is growing evidence to suggest that technologies like those distinguished by the AXA Health Tech &You Awards can make a real difference in diabetes self-management.
The winners of this third edition will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held at the new Design Museum in Kensington next April.
