The Public Health Collaboration (PHC) has revealed its third Annual Conference schedule in May, with a variety of international speakers set to discuss key issues in diabetes care.
Full weekend and single day tickets are now available for this year’s conference which will take place on Saturday 19 May – Sunday 20 May at the Royal College of General Practitioners in London.
Formed in 2016, the PHC is a charity consisting of leading healthcare professionals who strive to improve public health, particularly within diabetes.
One of their primary aims is to challenge dietary guidelines in the UK. They contend that advocating reduced carbohydrate and improved healthy fat consumption has shown to help people put type 2 diabetes into remissio, and low fat guidelines are largely responsible for increasing rates of obesity and type 2 diabetes.
South African low carb expert Professor Tim Noakes is among the speakers who will discuss challenging conventional dietary guidelines, while fellow founding PHC member Professor Iain Broom will present “Fake News” – a review on 40 years of official dietary advice for diabetes and associated cardiovascular disease management and prevention.
Speakers also include Charlotte Summers, Chief Operating Officer of Diabetes.co.uk, her second consecutive speaking appearance at the PHC conference, who will talk alongside Dr Jen Unwin about food addictio, particularly our addiction to sweet foods.
Some of the other topics being highlighted include reversing type 2 diabetes, the science of metabolism and blood glucose targets.
Among the founding members of the PHC include Dr Zoe Williams, known for her work on BBC’s Trust Me, I’m a Doctor, Dr. David Cavan – author of Reverse Your Type 2 Diabetes, and leading low-carb specialist Dr. David Unwin.
Tickets to attend the conference are available here.
