The speakers have been announced for the fourth annual Public Health Collaboration (PHC) conference in May 2019.
Drs Ian Lake, Aseem Malhotra, Zoe Harcombe and MP Tom Watson are among those scheduled to give presentations on 11-12 May at the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) in London.
The PHC is a charity which is dedicated to informing and implementing healthy decisions for better public health. Having launched its inaugural conference in 2016, this year’s fourth instalment will further lay out the charity’s aim to improve the information people receive from healthcare professionals.
Launched by Sam Feltham, one of the PHC’s primary aims is to challenge dietary guidelines in the UK, with evidence continuing to show how reduced carbohydrate and improved healthy fat consumption can help people put type 2 diabetes into remission.
Charlotte Summers, Chief Operations Officer of Diabetes Digital Media (DDM), will too be speaking at this year’s event to champion the low carb approach towards managing diabetes and preventing health complications.
Last year, Ms Summers spoke about sugar addiction with consultant clinical health psychologist Dr Jen Unwin, exploring how sugar has the same addictive properties as hard drugs such as cocaine. Ms Summers also presented results from DDM’s Low Carb Program (LCP) one-year health outcomes.
The Low Carb Program, which was approved into the NHS apps library earlier this year, has led to people with type 2 diabetes losing weight, improving their HbA1c, experiencing better mood and even putting type 2 diabetes into remission.
Tickets are now available for this year’s PHC conference, with 100 Saturday evening networking dinner tickets available too, where guests can mingle with speakers at the rooftop terrace and state rooms of the RCGP.
