| Carbs debate heats up on the radio The Diabetes Forum has been discussing a recent radio show, Radio 4's 'You and Yours', which featured a discussion on the role of carbohydrates in a diet for diabetes. The programme featured Dr Briffa, author of 'The Diet Trap', and the charity Diabetes UK's resident dietitian Deepa Khatri. Dr Briffa argued that Diabetes UK's relatively carb heavy diet advice is potentially dangerous for people with diabetes, Deepa Khatri countered that the body needs sufficient carbohydrate and their advice is based on solid scientific research. Read our guides to carbohydrates, including our low carb guide. There are several variations of the low carb diet, including the low carb, high fat diet and very low calorie diets. Hot on the forum is still Starting Newcastle Diet - the latest on the Newcastle Diet taken up by several forum members.
