For a while i could control my diabetes by following a low carb diet and losing weight. Two years ago i managed to lose 9 kilos and my HBA1C went down to around 6 (or 42mmol). Sadly i seem to have 'fallen off the wagon' and over the last year have found the weight i lost! my reading went to 8.4 at my last annual test and the doc started me on Sitagliptin (i was given Metformin when i was originally diagnosed and it did not agree with me AT ALL) but after three months, my blood sugar actually Increased, so for the last three months, i have been taking Gliclazide. Reading now is about 7.2 so a slight, but slow improvement. I know that low carb diet is good for me but i cant sustain it for any length of time. I weigh 78 kilos (which is just over 12st/170 pounds) Far too much for my height of 5ft2inches. But i wont give up!

Likes
Browsing in food markets and farmers markets, and eating out. Sadly, i have a very unhealthy relationship with food. I am a chef and contract caterer, i am constantly cooking lovely food for clients, a lot of which i cant touch, so it is constantly on my mind, it dominates my whole existence. I am involved in Amateur Theatre, i like going to the Cinema and reading detective fiction.
Dislikes
Town centres and shopping malls, lack of parking, i loathe carrots parsnips most root vegetables and pulses, and am not a huge fan of green vegetables either. I really hate ironing..
