    Been in denial now freaking....

That'll be why the 3 lidl stores near me haven't had any for the last week or so. They also do a low GI bloomer which doesn't affect my BG much and there are a few low carb breads in my local sainsburys too that I have as alternatives if I can't get the Lidl rolls. One called Hi-Lo I think, and...

The penny has dropped using info I found on net

I read it as 20g carbs for the day, not just from the spinach! Obviously every gram counts when you're going that low.

    I'm concerned

Carb % is useful to work out what portion size you could manage and I do it myself too, but the poster I responded to stated that they didn't eat ANYTHING over 10% carbs. I'm not saying it's not useful for some, just that automatically rejecting foods that are above some arbitrary carb %...

    I'm concerned

Haha. I'm not suggesting that's what you or anyone else should be eating, rather it was just an example that stuck in my mind of something that was quite low carb (in % terms) but was way over what most would consider low carb by the time you consider the portion size. My point still remains...

    I'm concerned

I've seen a few folks say they stick to foods that are less than a certain percentage of carbs, but surely the total carbs is more important than the percentage? For example, I was checking the labels on a ready meal in a supermarket the other day and it was around 9g carbs per 100g. So going by...

Will it make a difference if I take 15 minutes to eat a slice of white toast?

As mentioned in my previous post, the Tee2 from spirit healthcare is free and the test strips are cheaper than most others I've seen. http://spirit-healthcare.co.uk/product-category/shop/tee2/ I've also got an accu-check performa nano which I bought before I knew about the Tee2. Both...

Will it make a difference if I take 15 minutes to eat a slice of white toast?

Lidl protein rolls are awesome, but there are other options if you really can't go without bread. My local Sainsburys stock Hi-Lo bread which is only ~5g carbs per slice. Approx £1 per (small) loaf so not as cheap as some white breads but it does the job if I can't get to Lidl or they are sold...

Will it make a difference if I take 15 minutes to eat a slice of white toast?

Without a meter you won't actually know how wholemeal affects you. I originally didn't bother with a meter and just took the advice of the DN and cut out white carbs and went with wholemeal versions of bread, pasta and rice. It wasn't until I thought about it that I realised I didn't have a clue...

President Trump releases statement to mark Diabetes Awareness Month

I've no real opinion on Trump's ability either way (being from the UK), but there does seem to be a bit of a witch hunt as far as the media is concerned. Everything he does seems to be put under so much more scrutiny than his predecessors. Seems the guy can't do right for doing wrong in some...

Is it normal to wait weeks for a retinal scan appointment?

It was my first one, so maybe won't be quite so lucky with waiting times etc next time!

Is it normal to wait weeks for a retinal scan appointment?

Nope, they said my pupils were wide enough already. I basically had to read the letters from the chart and then sat for a couple of minutes with my chin on the machine while she took the images and told me immediately they looked fine. The clinic was like a ghost town, no receptionist, nobody...

Is it normal to wait weeks for a retinal scan appointment?

I got my appointment after a few weeks at my local hospital, literally took about 5 mins. Took my wife with me as the appointment letter said I may need to get drops so wouldn't be able to drive; took the afternoon off work for this reason too, so a little annoyed it was such a short...

Reply to @Dmcc0 from "Introduce Yourself" forum

Hi @Jaylee, sorry for the delay in replying; it's been a hectic couple of weeks and not had much time to browse the forum. I haven't been prescribed anything for the moment, the DN that I saw said that they usually try "lifestyle change" initially and generally don't prescribe anything unless...
