I am just wondering if any libre users could advise? Could I reasonably trial the libre using a single sensor and downloading the app to my Samsung phone (with NFC)? Would I be missing out on anything important by not buying the reader or is the experience the same?

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any hormones involved in increasing our blood sugars during acute illness apart from cortisol? Are there other hormones/chemicals that play a role in increasing our blood sugars?
Hi
I'm going travelling for 4.5 months in Europe. I'm wondering if anyone here has managed to get prescriptions of insulin/test strips etc for an extended period to take away or were your doctors unhelpful/unwilling?
Thanks
Hi
I'm trying to calculate how much insulin I'd need to take away with me when I go travelling.
I use pre-filled insulin pens (levemir and novorapid).
Am I right in thinking that there are 300 units in a single pre-filled pen or is it 100 units?

Re: Can you qualify for a pump if you don't have bad control
Thanks very much for this information - it is really helpful. Glad to know that a good hba1c doesn't necessarily rule it out (albeit it's more difficult to qualify).

Hi Nathansmummy
I had background retinopathy for a few year's worth of scans. But then about two years ago it disappeared. I think that it got slightly worse when I improved my control and then totally reversed. The last two appointments I've had, they said my eyes were totally normal!
I did...
Thanks everyone for responding - really interesting to hear your answers.
I had been avoiding rice as the last time I had a small portion of rice noodles with a stir-fry I had a maaaaasive spike. However looking back I think it was white rice in the noodles.
I do love my potatoes but I'll try...
You will have an amazing time - I'm very envious.
Agree with the others that frio bags are essential to keep your insulin cool.
I got a terrible stomach problems in India but didn't bother to go to a doctor. It lasted for 3 weeks and kind of ruined my trip. I wish now i'd just gone to a doctor...
I've had this sometimes, I think of it as a 'relative hypo'. ie. my bloods have been a bit high and then a sudden drop leads my body to have hypos around 4.6 or 5.2.
