    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Another 1lb off that I didn't want to lose. :(

    Weight Management

I'm after some ideas please for maintaining my current weight, while still being able to exercise and keeping my carbs low. According to NHS calculator I should be consuming 2600 calories a day - this is before any exercise allowance. I find that eating lo-carb also means low calorie and I am...

    Latest HbA1C

Just wanted to share my little bit of good news with people (actually I want to shout about it loud but a forum or two will do). Got my latest HbA1C results this morning. I was diagnosed in Nov/Dec 2023 at 55/56 mmol. I've crashed the carbs in my diet, I've been exercising, I've lost 37lbs...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Hello folks. I'm back! So I went missing after my check in on 16 February. Went skiing for a week and wasn't back for check in on 23rd. Came home on 24th, to find out I'd put 3lbs on :( Not sure why I didn't post last Friday, had a lot going on, but I'd lost that 3lb plus another, so not...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Just the 1lb this week, but means 30lbs in total in nine weeks or so, so am happy with that.

    My hbac1 reading

I was diagnosed in November/December last year. My first reading was 55, my second 56, and I didn't get to see my DN until about 3 weeks following the second reading. Your numbers are very low (as were mine) but I didn't wait to see the nurse. I crash dieted by dumping virtually all my carbs...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Forgive me friends for I have sinned! Yesterday I decided that we should have a nice takeaway, what with it being Valentines night, so we had a Thai (from a place we've never tried before). My BG testing showed 4.9 before and 7.6 2hrs after starting to eat. I was so disappointed. Not just in...

Using a meter to track progress

My advice would be to buy a Glucose Monitor and start testing on a morning, testing before and after each meal, see what your BG is like, see what impacts you and don't eat it again. Exercise more (if possible, I don't know your circumstances). Lo-Carb is the way to go judging by the evidence...

Unable to make appointment for bloods and see Diabetic Nurse

Happening all over the UK unfortunately. Some places worse that others. Massive underfunding of our NHS has seen it being crippled. I'd carry on but appreciate this isn't a political forum

    Breakfast ideas

I eat eggs, poached, scambled, fried - whatever. Normally with bacon or sausage. Sometimes make 90sec bread and make a bacon or sausage sarnie. Very occasionally I have porridge; it doesn't 'spike' me, but I am wary of it's high carb content. Also full fat greek yoghurt with a few...

    Breakfast ideas

Hi @gogobroom - did you make the switch to lo-carb bread after your T2 diagnosis in October? Does it appear to be help manage your levels? Thanks

    Shirataki noodles?

Funnily enough I don't mind the Konjac noodles, though I often flavour them with a bit of Soy or something similar. The konjac rice however is an awful replacement, so will stick to Cauliflower rice for that.

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

I missed the weigh in last week, well I say missed I actually avoided it as I had put weight on and couldnt really work our why. I'd not been well for the majority of it, but had kept to my eating habits and exercise, so couldnt work out why I had put on 4lb and was embarassed. Today however...
