I spent 20 years working in the marketing of food. My clients were the first names you'll think of in soft drinks, fast food, confectionery, snacks and grocery.
3 years ago I was diagnosed with type 2, aged 44, and weighing in at 17st and HbA1c of 76. Divine justice maybe.
I manage on diet and exercise, just, and its been hard, but I am doing OK.
I have now quit my career and dedicate myself entirely and for free to campaigning for diabetics and for the reduction and regulation of sugar. I have started a not for profit facebook page:
Living Loud with Diabetes. I'm also a volunteer consultant to Sugar Smart, the Jamie Oliver campaign to tackle sugar.
You can find me speaking at events such as the Childhood Obesity Summit, I have access to people in government, public health, the media and at food companies. I'm trying to do the right thing for us and to stop another generation of diabetics, 422m diabetics is already too many.
Please say hi, let me know what you think, ask me anything.
Stay strong my friends.
