I am 36 from Glasgow, Scotland, UK. I have PCOS (polycystic ovaries) which apparently if not managed can lead to diabetes (I was diagnosed at 13 and told just to lose weight and I'd be fine - cue eating disorders!). I've never been able to lose weight despite my most healthy and most unhealthy methods.
I am very recently diagnosed with diabetes, had my 1st visit to the diabetic clinic 8/11/23 but I have been eating a more diabetic friendly lifestyle for a month previous and seen positive changes to the symptoms of insulin resistance I've had since I was about 8.
I have done a lot of research, amassed tips & tricks, recipes, all kinds of info about different foods etc. I actually really enjoy healthy foods which makes things easier but I struggle a little with snacking and knowing if I'm doing enough right now.
That's my health-life story in a nutshell! My main passions are reading, Doctor Who, and Lord of the Rings. I am autistic and ADHD (being impulsive and having food sensitivities does not go well with diabetes at times!). I'm a collector of buttons and rocks, I love being my weird lil self but life has not been easy at all. I'm here to learn and to support
