    24 and newly diagnosed

I agree after a week you should be looking at a range well below that. Make sure you contact your DSN or Doctor and ensure that you test for ketones, if you do not have any testing strips most pharmacies will sell them until you are prescribed them.

    Auto cover needles

If you are waking up having hypo's then this would definately indicate that your background insulin is too high. Perhaps just try lowering it by a few units each night until you find a happy medium, alot of insulin adjustment is trial and error. No idea about the needles however sorry. Thanks

    Headaches and Dizziness

Hi All, I have had Diabetes now for 2 months and I have generally excellent control according to my DSN and Dietician. I have a meeting with someone at the hospital on Friday to get a new meter where you input your carbs and it works out your insulin requirements etc. Anyway over the past...

    Type 1 Diabetes, a 2 Year Battle!

Just a quick thing about your needle phobia, have you tried holding an ice cube to the skin for a few seconds before injecting, this numbs the skin and should stop you feeling anything? Steven

Hi there, You are young and I imagine it must be alot to deal with at such a young age. I was diagnosed 2 months ago at the age of 27 and initially I thought this was got to be a real struggle. But I quickly learnt through reading these forums, discussing with my DSN and consultant that it...

    Birthday Weekend

I ended up being quite apprehensive so didn't really have too much to drink in the end, I just found myself worrying about what if's, but I'm sure in time I will get to grips with things. My blood sugars have been pretty good over the weekend though ranging from 5-9 with one high of 10 and a low...

    Birthday Weekend

Thank you noblehead, I just spoke to my DSN and she said pretty much what you advised to give a dose of insulin but to make sure that I don't overestimate the amount, and also make sure I have a snack before I go to sleep. I will just inject at the table I have no problems in doing it around...

    Newly diagnosed Type 1

Update Christmas/New Year is now over and generally my levels have been okay. I have been having a few more hypo's than normal but I think this is because the balance of the insulin i'm taking combined with my pancreas still producing not being right for what i'm eating. I have been told to use...

    Newly diagnosed Type 1

Yeah it spiked last night at around 15.7 before I went to sleep (I say sleep... lying with eyes shut thinking), but currently I don't have anything to bring it back down, but this morning the fasting was 8.9. It also dropped to about 4.4 today after I had my lunch, not sure if I ate too little...
