Managing without pills

I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes last July.
I was feeling very tired but my job was stressful and I wanted to rule out a physical cause.
Following an initial blood test I was sent for a Glucose Tolerance Test which showed a sky high result.
The GP prescribed Metaformin straight away and Diastix to test daily.
I am pill averse so wanted to establish the bottom line with the Diastix.
All results were negative.
I told the GP that there was more glucose in the test drink than I would consume in a year.
I don't like sweet things.
He sent me for an Hba1c test which came back as 7.7 in August.
The dietician said my diet which is very plain was fine and I didn't need Metaformin
The GP admitted he had panicked.
Since then my October my Hba1c was 7.1 and last week was 6.6.
I was considerably overweight so I made modest reductions in portions and started more activity.
Going to the gym is a No No for me but I do like dancing so bought some Wii dance games.I probably look a prat
But it is working. I try to do about 30mins 6 days a week.
I have lost more than a stone and a half.
I haven't finished yet. My target is 5.6.
I hope other people can manage the condition without needing pills too.

Liars, thieves, users, cruelty, doing the washing up. Lol
:) You are doing great. I have had Diabetes Type 2 for 6 years ago, and to be truthful didn't take much notice of it. I refused cholesterol lowering drugs 3 years ago and every year since. On my latest check 1 month ago I was prescribed Metformin because my sugar was high. I read the info and gave it back to the chemist. Subsequently my Doctor rang me to find out why. I told him I was going to get a grip of my diet and reduce my sugars the natural way. So he has made me an appointment in June to see if it is working. Mind you it spurred me on after just 2 weeks I had dropped my first stone. I am 5ft tall and was weighing in at18st9lbs. (too many cream cakes I suspect) lol.
Now I feel I am on my way back to health. No more head in the sand for me. I am very pleased for you. I was such an idiot ignoring it for so long.

Well done with the weight loss.
It is surprising how small changes can make such a difference.
In my view pills can cause more problems than they solve.
My GP also wanted me to take statins and pills to reduce my blood pressure.
He can keep the statins and with my modest activity the Bp has come down from
140/80 which was OK to 120/ 60.
Keep up the good work.

this is too difficult

60 seems quite low.
