. The discussion section is interesting . It is interesting to see the functions attributed to the specific genes for which they found associations. Lots of questions though, and mostly speculation. (not a negative criticism, this sort of research by it's very nature is a bit of a fishing expedition )

Significant gene variants in a study like this may only apply to this population ie only to people of Scandinavian origin and not from East Asia or China . (suspect many of us in the UK though have a similar genetic ancestry) 900 people in this sort of study is also still very small
The big problem though with any study on LADA is of definition (by the definition they used, I and others I know of could have ended up in the T1 group yet we most probably are more akin to LADA than T1. There is one study from Action Lada that points out that time to insulin is very dependent upon clinical judgement. Some doctors put people straight on, others wait.
Similarly they may be undiagnosed LADAs in the T2 groups from which they derived their T2 candidate genes.
