Hi all - wonder if anyone out there can help.

Have been Type 2 for 10 years or more (am now 67) and, up until June/July this year was taking Metformin and Lantus. My BM's were between 4 - 7 - all good - but my weight had risen to 11.7 and in an effort to lose weight, had a trial of not being on the Insulin - only Metformin - and tried low carbing. My weight has dropped but my BM's are in double figures and my HBA1c was in the 80's. My GP has now suggested a trial of Metformin three times daily and has added in Forxiga at 5mg daily. My low carbing has not been particularly good - but I'm still losing weight. I haven't been on this tablet long enough to give it a fair chance, but yesterday before lunch my BM's were 16+ and today - 15+. Any advice would be appreciated.

first thing is to get your bg as good as a diet can...you may need more meds, but a month will tell...you may still need to see your Dr for a small shot of insulin in the mean time, if Forxiga doesn't help
I think the 1st priority is to get your bg back in range

I cut all grain, all grain product bread pasta etc, potato and starchy veg..sugary stuff and fruit/juice

ate lots of salad and veg, normal protein and replaced the lost carbs with healthy fats

Hi Plocton,

Can we help with your diet and food choices? Maybe if you tell us a typical day's food we can make a few suggestions.
