T1 and steroid treatment

Been T1 30+ years no complications so far, control has it's ups and downs. I was recently diagnosed with PMR - poly myalgia rheumatica - and being treated successfully with prednisolone, a cortico steroid. However I am having a lot of difficulty controlling sugar levels. I was warned that the level would increase as the day went on and then drop back to normal by morning. I am eating anything but carbs, which is difficult, and still getting high levels and I'm starving. I feel as if I am constantly testing and adjusting doses. I am currently averaging 1u of insulin to every 2g of carbs but this is not consistent. Is therea anyone out there who has had similar problems or any advice?

With inconsistent bg levels all you can do is test and adjust your insulin doses accordingly. Usually when bg levels are higher due to illness/stress and such it's a good idea to implement the Sick Day Rules, you could still have a look at them and see if there's anything in there that might help you:
