I'm currently doing a lot of reading to understand diabetes better and was fascinated by this video on Youtube which spotlights the often overlooked function of the liver in the regulation of blood sugar. Everyone focuses on the pancreas but the liver is just as important and seems to correlate well with Prof. Taylor at Newcastle University who believes that some instances of diabetes can be cured by helping the liver (and pancreas) to work normally through the reduction of visceral fat in and around these organs:


I'm particularly interested in Type 2 Diabetes and from what this video indicates T2 can be largely down to liver function. Indeed he suggests that insulin resistance is basically down to the liver.
