Just joined and I hope I am not breaking any of your rules already. I care for my 68 year old husband, who is now taking insulin. He has been told that he must come off Metformin because his kidney readings were poor. He has been a type 2 debetic for about 21 years, firstly managing by diet, then tablets and now insulin. His readings are all over the place at the moment. He is on a mixed insulin (been taking it for about 2 weeks now). He's been told to take his insulin twice a day, 10-15 mins before meals, one at breakfast and again at dinner. My problem is that we are going away for Christmas and he will be eating his main meal earlier at 3pm (he normally eats at 6pm). We are waiting for the doctors response, but I wondered what other diabetics do in similar positions. Grateful for any tips/hints. Thank you

I'm on a mixed insulin too. Can't say I take it exactly at the same times every day. As your husband has kidney problems he should ask his Diabetes Specialist Nurse.

I like most sports really, but my passion is football. I also enjoy going on walks in new scenic places and exploring different places in the United Kingdom.

I signed up here to try and meet some other people who experience the difficulties of being young and balancing it right.

Hi @1101 I'm afraid I can't offer any real advice, other than perhaps contact his diabetes nurse if he has one. They are usually pretty good, and sometimes a bit more up to date than GPs
