Hi
Just found this forum and looking for help !

Type 2 - insulin controlled

Normally my sugar levels are reasonably under control
and at my last check up my 3mth result was 8.1 However in recent weeks I have experienced a viral throat infection, now clearing up.
However the last four days levels have fluctuated wildly as follows................
Before breakfast / lunch / dinner / supper
9.2 13.9 16.3 28.4
6.1 11.2 19.1 21.1
6.9 15.3 13.6 26.3
4.6 6.7 15.5 26.3
5.6 17.7 13.1

Nornal insulin administered 10 10 22 5 units(Novorapid) before meals 44units Lantis at bed times

Any one help regarding how to return to normality

Regards

Hi,

I don't use insulin, but I strongly suspect that once your infection completely subsides your blood glucose readings will go back to their usual levels.

However, those levels are high!
What are your normal readings?

Welcome to the forum!

I'd ring the NHS 24/7 help line, or if you are throwing up, I'd go to A&E
the NHS will advise you on correction dosing, you may not be well enough to work it out yourself..do you have sick day rules, for next time?
these are T1, but they give an idea of what you will need from your Dr

Thank you both for your replies. They are both reassuring and helpful.

Thankfully throwing up was never on the agenda and fever ec seems to be subsiding with tiredness and diabetic issues the existing problems.

Jack412 - links very informaive and helpful - thank you

This site is new to me and I will continue to read it from now on.

When I was first diagnsed in 1991 I adopted the motto "I'll manage the diabetes, it will not manage me". This has held good for 25 years until
now, when for some reason I had the feeling I was "losing it". I am rateful that my eneral halth is normally excellent, so both of you - again thank
you for being there.

All the best to you

I will spend some time looking round this forum, looks like a place full of likeminded
Folk where useful information can be received from those who have gone ahead and experienced my next problem if /when it arrives.
Hopefully a few days will see me back to good levels.

In the meantime I'll recover with a nice, peacefully view from my window.
Avtar is last night's sunset from my front window!!
