I know, no good wailing about it now, but when it was first suggested I had diabetetes it came a s a surprise. It also came as a surprise to my work as well (Blackpool Council) who suggested that far from being an invisible disability, my Manager had no idea what it meant. The result? a 3 hour meeting through a lunchtime without a break. In the end I had to stop the meeting!
It is important that Managers in major employers are aware of the implications of diabetes - not a lot to ask. That's Blackpool Council for you though. See my blog for more information...
